Southern Potter Snowmobile Club

April 22, 2017

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox @ 0900 hrs. Those in attendance were : Dave Pavelosky, Bill Swords, Leo Miller, Pete May, John Fox, and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the March meeting. Dave Pavelosky made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Bill Swords, all in favor , motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for March was ,382.30 with an ending balance of 2304.59 , with no revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Dave Pavelosky, 2nd by Pete May, all in favor , motion passed. John Fox noted the balance of the calendar account.

Correspondences: The club received a letter and donation request from the Friends of Lyman Run Organization. Matt read the letter to the members present. The club agreed to continue the support of FOLR with a donation of 50.00 dollars. A motion was made by Pete May , 2nd by Dave Pavelosky to send a donation check.

Old Business: John Fox stated that for the appreciation dinner the menu choices will be , steak and shrimp or stuffed chicken. He was still working on getting commitments from members on attendance. The cost per person is 13.95. Bill Swords started a club facebook page and encouraged members to like the page and spread the word. The club will be sending 4 members to the annual PSSA business meeting held in Penn State on May 13.

Committee Reports

Trails- Dave Pavelosky reported that he spoke with Nate Confer about the gas well bridge at route 607, he stated that it needs a drainage pipe that should be supplied by DCNR. The trail from Wharton to Conrad near the gas company needs drainage pipes , the cross fork crew from DCNR should be doing this work. Trail work by the club is scheduled for the 17th and 24th of June

Board of Directors: There will be 1 meeting during the summer months this year in July on the 22nd before the work detail. John asked if memos can be sent to the club officers a week or 2 before meetings for reminders of meetings and that the BOD will work on posting events on community boards at the local businesses.

New Business: Club has received an invitation to attend the 2017 Powersports show sponsored by the PSSA. Matt Bollinger made a motion to attend 2nd by Pete May. All in favor , motion passed. Matt will take care of signing the club up.

Good and Welfare: Ed still has no improvement in his condition, he is looking better and is in an extended care facility. Matt stated that the club taxes( the epostcard) was submitted to the IRS.

March 18, 2017

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox @ 0916 hrs. Those in attendance were : Dave Pavelosky ,Dahl Eppinger,Janet Pankake, Bill Swords,George Bollinger, Jon Malehorn, John Fox, and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the February meeting. Dave Pavelosky made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Dahl Eppinger, all in favor , motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for February was $654.24 with an ending balance of $1797.76, with $695.00 revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Dahl Eppinger, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky, all in favor , motion passed. Janet Pankake noted the balance of the calendar account.

Correspondences: Raffle tickets were received from PSSA. All together the tickets will cost $60.00 . The club buys these every year. Motion by Janet Pankake, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky to purchase tickets, all in favor motion passed.

Old Business: Meeting at Stewardson Twp. Regarding the plowing of roads was attended. Officials looking into this matter.

Election Of Officers For 2017; All current officers will stay the same as 2016

Appreciation Dinner; May 20th ; 3 options on where to have our banquet were provided by President John Fox. The membership agreed to use Kaytees restaurant for the dinner . Start time will be 5pm.

Committee Reports

Trails- Dave Pavelosky reported that numerous trees were removed from the trails due to the recent storms. Some pipe work will need done on the trail below the club. There was discussion with no action taken on sleds riding private property near Darien Run.

Membership- Number of members close to last year so far.

Safety Course- None scheduled , John is the only member certified to do this. No interest in neighboring clubs on a joint effort

Board of Directors: There will be 1 meeting during the summer months this year in July on the 22nd before the work detail.

New Business: Discussion on starting a 50/50 raffle during the next membership drive that would be included with the membership packet that gets mailed and doing this in place of the Dice Run. It seems as though the Dice Run has not been well attended for the past few years. The tickets will be 2 dollars each or 3 for 5 dollars. Drawing for the winners will be Jan. 20, 2018 at the New Years Party.

Good and Welfare: Bill Swords will look into starting a club Facebook Page. Ed still has no improvement in his condition.

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox @ 0900 hrs. Those in attendance were : Dave Pavelosky, Dahl Eppinger, Janet Pankake, Bill Swords, John Fox, and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the January meeting. Dave Pavelosky made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Janet Pankake, all in favor , motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for January was $428.62, with an ending balance of $2044.22, with no revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Dahl Eppinger, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky, all in favor , motion passed. Janet Pankake noted the balance of the calendar account.

Correspondences: None

Old Business: LED lights were installed on the DCNR groomer.

Committee Reports

Trails- trail by 607n state shed had a tree down, 11 mile tree down, groomed 11 mile prior to D.R., 3 trees down on RR bed and heavy trail damage due to tree trimming by electric company, jones run gate was not unlocked.

Membership- 14 business, 137 regular

Dice Run- had 26 riders, 7 new members, winners were sent checks

Safety Course- None scheduled, John is the only member certified to do this. No interest in neighboring clubs on a joint effort

Bush Dam ride and Picnic- May not have snow to hold event.

New Years Party: 19 members attended . Extra food that was left over will be used as Janet see’s a use.

Board of Directors: No Report

New Business: Discussion on who was attending a meeting at DCNR regarding the plowing of joint use roads.

Nominations of officers as follows;

  • John Fox was nominated for president by Dave Pavelosky. 2nd by Janet Pankake

  • Matt Bollinger was nominated for sec/treas. By Dahl Eppinger, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky

  • Bill Swords will be the Assistant Sec/treas.

  • John Fox suggested the BOD stays the same, Janet Pankake 2nd.

  • Janet will keep doing the calendars, and Dave Pavelosky will do the trails.

The April meeting of the club is changed to the 22nd instead of the 15th due to Easter and trout opening. John Fox was to check on pricing and locations to have our appreciation dinner

January 21, 2017

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox @ 1715 hrs. Those in attendance were: Dave Pavelosky, Kathy Parsons, Karen Bollinger, Dahl Eppinger, Janet Pankake, Yavonne Fox, and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the December meeting. Dahl Eppinger made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky, all in favor, motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for December was $204.48, with an ending balance of $2472.84, with $1365.00 revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Janet Pankake, 2nd by Dahl Eppinger, all in favor, motion passed. Janet Pankake noted the balance of the calendar account had had a minor expense of buying stamps.

Correspondences: A letter from the DCNR was received informing the club of their quarterly meeting on 2/7/17 at 7pm.

Old Business: Lyman Run from Thompson to the lake has been approved to open for joint use. The rubber mats for the club trailer is completed. There needs to be some minor lighting repairs on the DCNR groomer.

Committee Reports

Trails: Dave Pavelosky gave the following report. Cut a tree on schoolhouse, tree down on Long Hollow, Bailey Run at Dean Longs tree cut up, on 12/21 the groomer was taken up 11 mile, and a thermostat was replaced on the club groomer due to overheating. He also drafted a letter to DCNR regarding the plowing of joint use roads.

Membership: 14 business, 114 general.

Dice Run: Will be held on the snow make up date

Safety Course: No report/ none scheduled

Bush Dam ride and Picnic: Will meet at the Wharton Store at 11 am and the picnic will be held at the club after 3 pm.

New Years Party: Held after this meeting

December 17, 2016

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox @ 0910 hrs. Those in attendance were: Dave Pavelosky, Gene Ianson, Bill Swords, Janet Pankake, John Fox, Ken Walther, John Ward Sr., and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the October meeting. Dave Pavelosky made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Gene Ianson, all in favor, motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for November was $1835.70, with an ending balance of $1312.27, with $608.00 revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Gene Ianson, 2nd by John Ward, all in favor, motion passed. Janet Pankake noted she had a deposit ready for the calendar account.

Correspondences: Club received a letter from the Sinnemahoning State Park informing the club and members that a section of trail is closed due to dredging at the lake. Trail is closed from Brooks Run Rd. to Mill Run/Goss Rd. Area. Looks like there may be no gas available at the store near the park as well.

Old Business: John Fox reported on the status of Lyman Run to the Lake that is closed to Snowmobiles. Progress is being made on it getting opened up and may take up to 90 days. The rubber mats for the club trailer should be done in a week or two.

Committee Reports

Trails: Dave Pavelosky gave an update on the 607 bridge, its opened up, a stop sign was replaced and a tree needed cut up. The trail to Keating Summit will be gone through after hunting season. Trails need some sign work .

Membership: Mailed out on 12/12

Dice Run: Matt Bollinger was asked to see if he could find the rules for the ride. John Fox was still looking for sponsors and stops.

Safety Course: No report/ none scheduled

Bush Dam ride and Picnic: Will meet at the Wharton Store at 11 am and the picnic will be held at the club after 3 pm.

New Years Party: 1/21/2017 @ 6 pm with a club meeting right before at 5 pm. Meal will be Ham made by Vicki

Board of Directors: No Report

New Business: Bill Swords asked if he could be sent the minutes, calendar winners, and club events so he could post to the web site. Dave Pavelosky asked when the next meeting with DCNR was so the club could express the importance of townships leaving snow for the riders on joint use roads.

Good and Welfare: Ed Lawver is eating solid food now, with no other improvement. John Ward donated 5 gallons of gas for the scandig; club thanked him.

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox At 0912 hrs. Those in attendance were: Dave Pavelosky, Gene Ianson, Dahl Eppinger, Janet Pankake, John Fox, and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the October meeting. Gene Ianson made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky, all in favor, motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for October was $784.26, with an ending balance of $2339.97, with no revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Gene Ianson, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky, all in favor, motion passed. J. Pankake noted she had a deposit ready for the calendar account.

Correspondences: None

Old Business: John Fox noted that the donation box at the conf. this year netted $32.55.

Committee Reports

Raffle: Sheetz card raffle winners were; Cindy Baker, Bart Greeley, Peggy Hartman, David Shank. The club profited $245 dollars on the raffle.

Trails: Dave Pavelosky reported that he was getting in contact with K Clark to check on the Rt. 607 bridge to Keating Summit. On the 25th he back bladed SH, GL to Conrad, and on the 26th 5 Daughters to Camp Survivor. Some maintenance work done to the groomers. John Fox stated he would like to have 2 groomer operators in each machine at a time when on the trail if possible. There was a lengthy discussion regarding a vehicle crossing the Whitney Bridge.

Membership- Finishing up on the Mailing will go out soon.

Dice Run- We may need to find another stop for the ride and J. Fox is working on the sponsors

Safety Course- No report/ none scheduled

Board of Directors: The maintenance fee was paid for another year on the club website . M. Bollinger will work on getting with B. Swords on updating info.

New Business: There was some discussion about Thompson Rd. to Lyman Park being opened this year for sleds. John Fox will keep the club in the loop on this. 4 calendars were lost at the show. The trailer has been inspected and the rubber mat needs to be put down. State grooming is being reduced this year because of the new system for distributing money through the ATV/ Snowmobile registration system.

Good and Welfare: Ed Lawver is showing some improvement with movement. John Fox brought up about having an appreciation dinner in March of 2017. This would take the place of the fall 2016 appreciation dinner. More to follow .

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for September was $404.95, with an ending balance of $3,124.23, with no revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by Dave Guise, 2nd by Dave Pavelosky, all in favor, motion passed.

Raffle: Sheet: card raffle, we need to keep pushing them.

Trails: Dave Pavelosky reported the trail from the club to Wharton is cleared, long hollow got side boards ,school house and the rail bed needs back bladed 1 more time, and the 607 bridge to Keating summit needs checked.

Membership: Cards will go out after the powersports show

Dice Run: We may need to find another stop for the ride.

Safety Course: No report/ none scheduled

    The regular monthly meeting of the Southern Potter Snowmobile Club was called to order by President John Fox At 0911 hrs. Those in attendance were: Jeff Krom, Dave Pavelosky, Dave Guise, Clair Daugherty, John Greely, Janet Pankake, Dahl Eppinger, John Fox, and Matt Bollinger.

Secretaries Report: Matt provided the minutes from the 2 special meetings held in July and August. John Greely made a motion to accept the minutes, 2nd by Janet Pankake, all in favor, motion passed.

Treasurers Report: Matt provided a financial statement to those in attendance. Total expenditures for the summer months were $565.72, with an ending balance of $3,539.18, with no revenue. Motion was made to accept the report by John Greely, 2nd by Janet Pankake, all in favor , motion passed. Janet stated the calendar account had expenses of $710.20.

Correspondences: Friends of Lyman Run thanked the club for the donation and attached a membership card.

Old Business: John reported that arrangements have been made for the club to attend the PSSA Powersports show at the end of October. If anyone wants to attend or help out they can contact him. An update on Ed’s condition was discussed. He is still at Colonial Manner Rehab.

Committee Reports

Raffle: The 2017 Calendars are being distributed and tickets for the Sheetz card raffle are available now.

Dice Run - Being worked on , date to be held is 1/28/2017 with a no snow date of 2/4/17

Safety Course - No report

Bush Dam ride and Picnic is to be held on 2/18/2017 and the 3rd annual kids ride and picnic will be held at the Austin Dam with a date to be announced.

Trails: Jamison and Gravel Lick are side boarded and now 8 feet wide. Jamison to Jordan have been back bladed. Long Hollow will get side boards and widened to 8 feet. Gas well needs checked out yet. Joe Lehman is mowing trail at Berge Run as well as replace some boards on the Berge Run Bridge. Minor tree cutting needed on the rail bed. High grass needs to be mowed behind the sportsman club on the trail.

New Years Party: 1/21/2017 @ 6 pm with a club meeting right before at 5 pm.

Board of Directors: The club is still in search of 1 BOD.

New Business: Motion by Dave Pavelosky 2nd by John Greely to move the Oct. 15th meeting of the club to Oct. 22 due to the oyster feed, all in favor, motion passed. Motion made by Janet Pankake 2nd by John Greely to add John Fox to the Calendar account, all were in favor , motion passed. A motion was made by John Greely and 2nd by Dahl Eppinger to donate 200 dollars to Ed Lawver’s wife Joan to help with expenses, all were in favor, motion passed.
